Got My Water Bill… I’m in Shock!
09 Aug 2010 | Filed under: Industry NewsSo much for water being free. Thames water have managed to put my water rate up , not only on the metered rate but also on the fixed charges. Its a license to print money. Can I go elsewhere- er no!
Since privatisation of the phones and energy utilities consumers have been given genuine choice, and so the benefit to the consumer is evident. Privatising water has not helped anyone other than the shareholders of the companies lucky enough to have bought them. I do not see any difference in the logistics of supplying gas to a consumer compared to water, so I cannot see why this could not be de-monopolised as well.
The Coalition should open up this market, offering us some real savings at a time when we are having to make many cut backs.
