Two stories on www.energylivenews.com caught my eye today. Firstly, uSwitchforBusiness.com reports that UK businesses have, on average, suffered a 6.19% drop in turnover over the last 12 months but over the same period their energy costs have leapt up from 0.3% to 0.51% of turnover. That’s a 70% increase and a serious threat to profitability. [...]
A client asked me last week if there was anything that i could do to get them out of a 6 year contract with one of the big franking machine companies. My investigation has shown that they were “sold” a machine that has twice the capacity (and is therefore twice as expensive) as they need and [...]
I’ve been caught up in someone else’s problem this last week which illustrates why, when dealing with utility suppliers, you must document absolutely everything. This particular issue goes back to 2007 when the company moved into its premises but neither the company nor the electricity provider read the meter, let alone took a photo of [...]
Well, we did it. Almost £1100 raised on Tuesday 31st January at the Ruchetta Restaurant in Peppard Common. Great food and drink from Angelo and his team, terrific crowd of people and a lucrative raffle thanks to the generosity of about 20 Henley on Thames businesses and individuals. Can’t thank everybody enough.
There was an excellent piece in yesterday’s Mail on Sunday (The Enterprise Zone) about White’s Seafood and Steak Bar in Hastings which had received a letter from British Gas the previous month warning that their energy contract was soon due for renewal and that failure to terminate the contract within a 3 week renewal window would [...]
Just putting the final touches to this event which takes place in just 8 days’ time. Angelo has put together a fantastic menu for this, we have well over a dozen raffle prizes, bookings are coming in thick and fast and we expect to surpass our target of £1,000 raised for Sue Ryder for the night. [...]
Last week at the launch of the Sue Ryder Nettlebed Hospice Big Wigs Challenge I committed to raise £3,000 by February 2012. I’ve got off to a flying start by selling an unwanted wooden climbing frame in my garden at the weekend and am now going to try to persuade my clients to donate a percentage of the cost savings I [...]
Two day’s work spent analysing the last twelve months’ fixed line telecommunications costs for my new client, an independent day school, has revealed that they could be saving almost 60% on their current annual spend. That’s quite a result. I can hardly wait to get stuck into some of their other expenditure categories.
