The Conservatives have pledged that if elected they will not cut the £1bn Future Jobs Fund. The fund pays employers to hire young people on at least the minimum wage for six months and concerns had been raised about its future under a Conservative Government following a long period of silence from the party regarding its future.
However, Theresa May, shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, said that her party had ‘no plans to change existing Future Jobs funding commitments’.
Funding under the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats would be reviewed at the end of the current funding round in March 2011, Labour say they would extend funding to 2012.
