How not to # 1

01 Oct 2009 | Filed under: How not to

During a recent discussion with an employee of a major Government body (you can already feel your taxes slipping away) who’s staff occasionally had to make site visits, the topic of transport came up.The employees had two options, either use their own transport (and claim the expense) or use a pool car. There were 10 pool cars that were hired on a weekly basis. During the week these cars remained largely un-used. This was recognised as wasteful. So the decision was made that rather than hiring cars on a weekly basis it would be better to hire them on a monthly basis as the monthly price was more competitive than the weekly.

I guess the less we pay for something we don’t use the better – but lets take the next step.
