Feed-in Tariffs go live

The government initiative to encourage generation of renewable energy went live on the 1st April.

Households or businesses that install a renewable energy system will receive guaranteed payments for both the energy they use themselves and any surplus they export to the grid.

These tariffs are predicted to give a return on investment of up to 8% and are expected to encourage a lot of additional installations.

It should be kept in mind that the cost of these payments will be borne by us all through our energy bills. So those who do not generate electricity will be paying those that do.
