I’ve been busy as usual helping my clients reduce their spend on essential business costs – also known as overheads. However, a number of recent projects in which I’ve been involved have brought home to me just how deep and broad the Auditel service is. Obviously we help clients find the best rates available matched to the appropriate service level but we go much further.
Consider this story. A client opened a new facility in May last year. His electrical contractor advised him that his usage would take him into the half-hourly sector of the market.
For those of you who don’t know this, the UK electricity market is divided in two: greater than 100kW and less than 100kW. Half-hourly metering is mandatory for all electricity customers with a maximum power demand (peak load) greater than 100 kW. This means that UK buildings which, over any single half-hour period, draw an average power of 100 kW or more from the grid, will almost certainly have a half-hourly meter. One of the interesting things about the half-hourly market is that the customer pays not only for the electricity used but also a number of other charges including “Available Capacity”. Essentially you pay the electricity company to guarantee that you will always have access to a certain draw of power.
So my client paid for the available capacity set by his electrical contractor. When I started to analyse the client’s electricity usage I realised that his actual consumption had never come close to this figure and a quick check with the client confirmed that there would be no growth in usage. I re-negotiated the available capacity agreement and made a substantial saving for the client. When you outsource the management of your overheads to Auditel, this is the attention to detail that you get, whatever category of cost we’re looking at. My client was happy to confirm that he would never have spotted this cost-saving opportunity. Call Denis Brennan today on 01554 770816 or email Auditel and you too can benefit from this same attention to detail and remember we only get paid by sharing the savings we find for you so we cannot cost you money.
