CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme – Are you ready?

03 Mar 2010 | Filed under: Energy

There is now less than one month left before the mandatory registration process for the CRC Energy Efficieny Scheme starts.  Are you ready?

Formerly known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment, the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is the UK’s mandatory climate change and energy saving scheme.  It is central to the UK’s strategy for improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, as set out in the Climate Change Act 2008. It has been designed to raise awareness in large organisations, especially at senior level, and encourage changes in behaviour and infrastructure.

Put simply, CRC is a cap-and-trade scheme which offers financial incentives in return for improved energy efficiency.

Does it apply to your organisation?

Well all organisations with half-hourly (HH) electricity meter will be obliged to register (approximately 70,000 organisations) and, of them, an estimated 5,000 large public and private sector organisations whose annual consumption in 2008 exceeded 6,000MWh will be legally bound to participate fully or face financial and other penalties.

Still unsure whether it applies to your organisation, then why not read our quick guide…….Auditel CRC Guide
