I’ve written on this subject before, about differentiating Auditel from energy brokers, but here I find myself again coming up with a good example of the difference in our service. One which I hope you will agree, really can make engaging Auditel worthwhile.

Anway, here we go. I recently took on a new client to look at their energy supplies. As is often the case, an energy broker had placed their previous contracts around eighteen months ago. Most of the supplies are in two year contracts at the moment. Whilst gathering some data on the supplies, I found the contract for one Half Hourly electricity supply. This contract stated the rates and dates for the supply, January 2010 to December 2011 with British Gas. Fine and dandy, I thought. I’ll keep any eye on that one for renewal time.

Shortly afterwards, I came across two recent invoices for this same supply from April and May this year, 2011. Instead of the contracted rates, the client was being charged out of contract rates! Some quick investigation and a call to BG revealed that this issue had been going on since the start of the contract back in January 2010. My keen eye and attention to detail has resulted in the client obtaining a rebate from British Gas of just over £10,000, not to mention the savings going forward until the end of the contract, which could be another £4,000. A good result all round, I hope you’ll agree. As for that contract end date of December 2011, well there lies another story…….

Last Friday saw the majority of the Auditel network meet up with Head Office staff for our annual conference. It is always a great event and a good opportunity to catch up with affiliates from other parts of the country. This year the event’s message was “Mission:Possible”. Several informative speakers and workshops were conducted throughout the day to help affiliates improve their business.

Leadership, time management and dress and appearance were just some of the topics covered. Another speaker talked about FAFFING, and how to do less of it, something I think we would all like to be able to do.

The keynote speaker was Colonel Stuart Tootal DSO, former commanding office of 3 Para. His recollections of his first mission to Afghanistan were extremely moving and harrowing at the same time. His new book, “Danger Close” is a must read for any fan of military literature, with some of the proceeds going to The Afghan Trust, a charity to help veterans from the conflict. As an ex-military man myself, it was a pleasure to meet Stuart.

On the day of the conference, Auditel’s chosen charity for 2011, Help for Heroes, benefitted from over £3000 of donations as part of a raffle and charity auction. Thanks go to all of our sponsors for donating some superb prizes, even though I didn’t win any!

Thanks to all the speakers and all head office staff for making the day memorable and extremely useful. Roll on next year!

It never ceases to amaze me what people will pay for something that little bit different. The Royal Mint recently minted some 20p coins without a date on them (by mistake I hasten to add). For this reason alone, collectors are now paying astronomical prices to get their hands on them, with one company buying them up by the bucketload. So, if you feel short of a few bob and live in the Birmingham area, dig deep into your pockets for those 20p pieces. It may be easier finding a needle in a haystack now the secret is out! Thanks again to Loomis Uk for this one.

Making savings and managing overheads is what Auditel do daily, but it is always good to mention the highlights. This month I have managed to make some good savings in a couple of different areas for clients.

Firstly, another good success on insurance savings for a client. Thanks to the help of our strategic partner, Bluefin, one client has made savings of around £14,000 against historic premiums. A great result I would say.

The second success this month was on a category that was new to me. Cash in Transit. This is an overhead for retail type premises and anybody who needs large amounts of cash trasnporting to banks. There are a limited amount of well known national suppliers, but I still managed to do a review which achieved savings of 39 percent. A revised offer by the incumbent supplier could have achieved savings of 30 percent, but the client decided to change suppliers anyway.

So, if you feel your insurance premiums could do with a serious reduction, or you have cash handling requirements, give me a call. I’d be happy to see what I can do for you too.
