From April this year, an estimated 70,000 companies in the UK will be legally required to
register under the Environment Agency’s CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC).
In a nutshell
Put simply, CRC is a cap-and-trade scheme which offers financial incentives in return for
improved energy efficiency.
All the UK’s 70,000 or so organisations with half-hourly electricity meters will be obliged
to register and, of them, an estimated 5,000 large public and private sector organisations
whose annual consumption is 6,000MWh or more will be legally bound to participate fully
or face financial and other penalties.

Liverpool Triathlon 27th June 2010

The UK’s newest major triathlon swim, bike and run whilst taking in Liverpool’s World Heritage Sites, including The Liver Building, Albert Dock, and the brand new Liverpool Echo Arena. Swim takes place in Queen’s and Wapping Dock.

1.5km Swim, 40km Bike and 10km Run = 51.5km (0.94 miles/25 miles/6.25 miles = 32.19 miles)

Blaenafon Triathlon 16th May 2010

Rated by ‘220 Triathlon’ magazine as one of “The UK’s Toughest Triathlons” and also the UK’s longest-running triathlon event in it’s 27th year. Steep hills and a partially off-road run make this “tougher than some Ironmans” according to the Welsh Triathlon Office Coordinator.

0.8km swim, 44.8km bike, 11.2km run = 56.8km (0.5 miles/28 miles/7 miles = 35.5 miles)

Multinational companies waste billions sourcing telecoms

The world biggest companies are throwing away billions of pounds because they are not very good at sourcing and managing their telecoms services.

As convergence of voice and data accelerates telecoms services contracts take on a broader and more critical role.

A report by Forrester Research for telecoms sourcing consultancy Hudson & Yorke said 80% of all telecoms sourcing projects are inefficient.

The report, which is the result of a survey of 81 multinational companies, said companies could reduce telecoms costs by 20%.

A major part of the problem is a lack of management after contracts are signed.
