Water rebate of £22,700

Just got a client a £22,700 rebate for wrongly invoiced water charges. Not bad considering they only spend £9,000/Annum. Do you know any businesses that use water that might like to talk to us?

Oh and they will be paying much less in the future, a double win…..

An article appeared in the Utility weekly dated the 11 February about Thames water identyfing millions of pounds owed to them following an audit identifying 3,000 homes to date that have not been billed.

In the second week of an amnesty 644 homes came forward to say they had not received a recent bill. Thames have in the case of these customers stated they will not have to pay back dated bills.

However, they still have 2,367 homes on record that are still being investigated and in the event that Thames find they should have been billed the law allows for the water company to reclaim back up to 6 years of non payment.

At the moment Thames aims to complete the project by the end of March and could find upto 20,000 homes that have been unbilled, as the average price of a Thames water bill is £300 per year this could increase their coffers dramatically.

The important things for businesses out of this story is to be watchful of your bills it is not just domestic properties that do not receive bills. Auditel on a regular basis come across companies who move into new premises and months down the line no water bill or energy bill has been received. This is just building up a big problem down the line as more and more utility companies are carrying out these type of audits.

So just take a moment to check if energy bills are coming in for all your meters and that you are receiving water bills, better to face the issue now than to build up a big problem later.

Carl Windsor owns an Auditel franchise, a specialist cost and purchase management consultancy, and Ken Allan is the Training and Procedures Director for ConocoPhillips. Carl explains: “The main reason my Squash colleague, Ken and I decided to run the Italian Marathon was that it gave us the opportunity to combine a European driving holiday with a visit to the home of Italian exotica; Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Zonda. This was the 23rd Italian Marathon and a memorial to the late, great, Enzo Ferrari, founder of Ferrari who was an athlete before becoming a motor racing legend…”

Made it to Carpi for the Marathon

What a great three days so far. Left the UK on Tuesday and went via Hull P&O overnight ferry to Zeebrugge.

Traveled through Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Germany on Wednesday. Fantastic weather and covered 500 miles. Stayed overnight on Lake Constance before moving onto Austria and the Alps, tackling the glorious Stelvio Pass which compromises 50 or so hairpin switchbacks cutting through the mountain side and rising some 3,600 metres.

Stayed overnight in Valdisotto in the foot of the Alps before taking a fantastic route (by accident) which turned out to be a mini Stelvio only much scarier. Climbing up the side of a mountain just the same as yesterday but on much narrower roads in near zero visibility due to climbing through low lying cloud and mist.

Drove past the Bugatti factory before turning off towards the Lamborghini factory. Spent a great couple of hours salivating over all the lambo’s in the museum. Lots of great photos on FB and PB.

Less than a week away from the 23rd Italian Marathon – training has been curtailed due to the horrid weather we’re having and me having a cold – only managed 8 miles last week.

Just back form my last training session on British soil this morning – a steady 6 mile jog. The next run will be a 2 miler in Carpi on Saturday….

The weather should be much nicer in Italy. hopefully!
