Have been so busy I haven’t had time the time to log my activities on here since 7th July!
Only managed about 40 miles over the last couple of weeks and should have been doing that per week. In among all the work the healthy eating has gone south as well. Did manage to fit in a weekend’s camping at the Cholmodeley Pageant of Power – what a great weekend that was – lots of great cars, boats and bikes…
Managed to fit in a visit to Metres to Miles which is a specialist running shop in Epworth near Doncaster and got fitted up with some new boots. Had my running gait video’d to establish how wonky I am (no comments please), tried several different trainers with different levels of correction until we got some that straightened me up. Tried them the next day and found that the nagging Achillies problem I’d been having was much improved. Recommended and well worth a visit. And I would advise anyone who hasn’t had their running style checked to get it done sooner rather than later – I wish I had.
Whilst the event seems to be an age away (11 weeks) it will soon be too late to have enough time to make any serious preparation. Weekly mileage now begins to step up from about 40 miles up to 50 miles.
If anyone has suggestions on how to keep focussed and motivated with both diet and running I’d be pleased to hear from you? For instance how do you say no to fish & chips or a great big slab of chocolate fudge cake? I find having a fat belly makes it much harder to run but can’t say no……
